Free span vacuum metallizer machinery
The differences between Free span metallizer and traditional metallizer
Free span metallizing means the film suspended in the mid air for metallizing when we put the film into evaporation area and there is no support drum to supply mechanical strain force.
Advantages:
(1) The temperature difference in the two side of film is very small when metallizing and cooling down by cooling drum after metallized. The film and Aluminum coating will cooling down at the same time so that the coating will not easy to get crack and there is no tension from coating drum, so it can keep the good cohesion and ductility of film and Aluminum coating.
(2) The cooling drum is not exposed in the evaporation zone, it can't be polluted by Aluminum vapour and no effect of radiant heat, so the cooling drum will give the highest efficiency and the lowest load.
(3) Film and evaporation source is vertical in the process of coating so that the evaporation efficiency and adhesion are increased.
(4) Free of guide line, edge line and wrinkle. No pollution of coating drum, no spatter of aluminium dross , no film broken.
Traditional metallizing:
shortages:
(1) The film and coating drum are effected by radiant heat of evaporation source at the same time in the process of metallizing. The temperature of film attached on the cooling drum is -15°C, while the coating side is +50°C. There is large temperature difference in the two sides of film. The large thermal stress to film destroyed the internal stress of the film. The film will have a little ductility when metallizing under the tension of the cooling drum. It will recover contractile force after coating so the cohesion of film and coating was broken.
(2) The coating drum is exposed in the evaporation zone in the process of film metallizing. It will be polluted by Aluminum Vapour in the coating process and also effected by the radiation heat of evaporation source, both of which increase cooling drum burden resulting in low efficiency. On the other hand, cooling drum of coating drum metallizer is great influenced by the radiation heat of radiation source and increased cooling burden. It need to adjust the baffles on the both ends to reduce the coating pollution to the cooling drum and heating of radiation heat when do the different widths of film. So the shadow area on both ends of the film is to be wasted as scrap and increased cost.
(3) There is only one third trip in the process of metallizing which the incident angle of evaporation source and coating drum is above 60°. The other trip the incident angle is less than 60°so that reduce the efficiency and adhesion in metallizing.
(4) There is guide line, edge line when metallizing CPP AND PE film. There is pollution to coating drum, spatter of aluminium dross and film is easy to be broken.
